Q: How do I install the RL-RP?
A: Once the stock rear sight is removed, the laser installs into the dovetail with a brass punch that comes with the laser. If you are unfamiliar with removing stock rear sights, we suggest consulting either Ruger, your gun manual or taking the firearm to a certified gunsmith.
Q: How do I sight in the laser?
A: There are two screws located on the laser. One is on the top of the laser and is for elevation adjustment; the one on the right side of the laser is for windage adjustment.
Q: What do I do if I’m having trouble sighting the laser in?
A: Try the reset process; back the screws out for both the elevation and windage until there is a thread or two showing on each screw. Then let the laser sit turned off for at least one hour at room temperature then follow steps 1-6.Laser Sight In:
- Assemble weapon and make safe
- Align front and rear sights by shining laser dot 21 ft (recommended) away in a safe direction.
- FIRST! Use elevation screw to adjust laser dot .5 inch above front sight.
- SECOND! Use windage screw to adjust laser dot .5 inch left of front sight.
- THIRD! Use both screws in ¼ turn increments to move dot above front sight.
- Make final adjustments at shooting range.
Q: What size Hex wrench do the adjustment screws use?
A: The adjustment screws use a .035 Hex wrench. If you lose yours and cannot find one please contact customer service at 928-649-3201, and we will send you a new one.
Q: Will the RL-RP withstand recoil?
A: Yes, the RL-RP has been through extensive testing to withstand recoil. Throughout our website you may find many videos that show the durability for our rear sight lasers. Here is the a link for demonstrationshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xae41-o8ukU
**The videos you may find are for a variety of models.**
Q: Does the RL-RP have a pulse mode, or low battery indicator?
A: Yes, this laser does have a pulse mode but not a low battery indicator.
Q: What firearms will the RL-RP fit on?
A: Ruger P85, P89, P90, P91, P93, P94, P95, and P97.
Q: How does the RL-RP attach to the firearm?
A: The laser replaces the stock rear sights and fits in the existing dovetails.
Q: Are there fixed sights for when the laser is not in use? Are they night sights?
A: All of our rear sight lasers are equipped with fixed sights. The new models are now equipped with night sights.
Q: How much does the RL-RP weigh?
A: This laser weighs 1.2 oz.
Q: Why is the activation switch/button on the left hand side of the laser?
A: The activation switch/button is located on the left, back side of the RL-RP due to design and size. Also, research findings have shown that the majority would prefer the button to be on the left hand side so they may use their free hand to activate the laser.
Q: Why is it when I push the button the laser does not turn on? I have to push it twice?
A: The unit you have is now equipped with the new night sight. The first push of the button is the night sight (The LED glows green under the white sight notch creating a rear night sight). Second press of the button is constant (which you can program to pulse by holding the button down for 6 seconds) and the last press of the button turns the unit off. There is no longer an indicator light in the back.
Q: How can I tell if I have a night sight?
A: The laser no longer has an indicator light in the back and the activation switch is black.
Q: What kind of batteries and how many does the RL-RP use?
A: The RL-RP uses four batteries size 377.
Q: How long do the batteries last?
A: The battery life for normal usage is 5 hours in the constant on mode and 10 hours in the pulse mode.
Q: Where can I purchase replacement batteries for my RL-RP?
A: The 377 batteries are standard camera/watch/hearing aid batteries that can be purchased at your local Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, local drug store or any other place that sells watch or hearing aid batteries. You may also purchase 12 packs of replacement batteries from LaserLyte directly.
Q: What is the actual size of the RL-RP?
A: LxWxH: .85 in., 1.05 in., .35 in.
